Hello world,
You have probably already heard several times: one of the negative aspects of modeling is loneliness (together with the never-ending diet I would add ;-))
Most of the times we are traveling alone, from one location to the other, living in a new country for several weeks, sometimes months…away from our hometown, family and friends. Bye bye comfort zone!
After many years with a case in one hand and passport in the other, I have developed a flawless strategy not to suffer from homesickness too much. I know that many of you are also living -mainly for business- miles and miles away from their homecountry. That is why I would like to share my experience with you ♥
First of all, the first thing I do when arriving in a new country is joining a gym. You know that I am a real sport addicted! I train every time I can, even everyday, if I have enough energy left after a long day of shoot. My body and mind always appreciate working out 😉
Here in the States I found out the trendy – and HARD omg- world of the bootcamp classes, that I alternate with Antigravity Yoga. This has definitely become one of my favorite, together with pilates. I hope to be able to post soon a picture of me during the class. It is not easy to take a selfie while pending from the ceiling lol And I don’t think our instructor would approve to stop the class to take me a pict. Anyway, I could always try 😉
Second point, especially directed to girls who have been saving a little: shopping!! I I love creating my own style with brands and trends coming from all over the world. Any city has its own glamour. Today I spent hours in a shop on Lincoln Road called Bagghy Miami & My T-shirt corner. Thank you for your help ragazzi! In the end I opted for the Marilyn shirt ( as you advised me on Facebook and Twitter ;-)) and for a new leather leash for Giulio! The old one was completely destroyed (well, eaten…by Giulio). He is a real Miami glam star now 😉
Sightseeing! Is there a better thing than loosing yourself around a new city, finding out new places, its hot spots, enjoying its nature and its people? As I told you already, in Miami beach I am Decobike biggest fan. Sometimes it is difficult to find a bike, especially on rush hours and in the top corners of the city, but really, I would be lost without it.
And then…of course, go out with your new friends and have fun! I had an amazing time on Halloween. I was also part of the celebration, with my nerd costume! Maybe not so original as the laundry man or the meteo man – yes, you heard well, loved them by the way -but anyway, Halloween spirit effective!
And then amici…what else can I advise you…we are so lucky nowadays! Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google +, Pintarest ( omg I still didn’t get it! Could someone of you tell once and for all how it works?), Skype, FaceTime, Line,… I mean, do you really still feel alone? I regret the day I taught my Mum how to use Skype lol They should invent a Skype answering machine 😉
Thanks for being there.
Love,
Renata
